Green Fliers breeding again (video)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Not hard to breed at all - they hang their eggs from plants....generally good parents.

I've always thought that they look like a green or black rainbow cichlid. Kind of like a severum / rainbow cross :)

I think that their lack of popularity (whatever that means) is that they're a bit unusual to find at LFS and they don't really color up much until 2-3". Demand for them comes and goes but they're some of my favorites!

Well I don't think they look that much like convicts, especially in person. They have a very unique body shape.... Plus, cons are pretty popular ;)

Are they hard to breed?

not at all. They're related to convicts, and cutteri, and breeding is much the same.

I got mine from dogowar and his dude is like the biggest flier on planet earth.

Wow. That's far prettier than a convict!

yeah in my opinion the dramatic color change from blue/gold/ a million shades of green to the black/grey/chartreuse highlights is one of the many things that make them so cool.

I have a pair of my original (wild) pair's kids (siblings to the ones in this thread). I haven't bred them in awhile since they're in a busy cichlid community...

I think that most of the 14 New World enthusiasts in the country NOT into umbees, dovii and red devils already got them from me already...or from Rapps ;)

I know I'm a few years late but Matt shot a link of this thread in another thread about them, great fish, hope you still have them!
