What eats Green Hair algae???HELP????

I'm looking for a type of small fish that eats green hair algae,I have ottos but they don't much care for it,I have tried Excel @ x2 & x3 the recommended dose and have had no luck getting rid of it,I'm having this problem in my tank with breeding Red Cherry Shrimp and do not want to try any chemicals,The only thing that I have found to do is go through every day with a toothbrush and pick it out what a PAIN,Any Suggestion would be great Thanks

That's tuff. I had the same problem in my 29 planted. I've found there is no one fish or snail that will eliminate the problem or even control it in some cases. I increased water changes, cut back on supplements, and decreased feeding and it helped a lot.

True Siamese algae eaters, you could also try rosey barbs.

If you can remove parts it grows on then leave then out to dry. This kills it and it won't grow back (unless it spread from somewhere else again).

I had a friend who had it all over the decor and when he went on holiday I removed it all and just left it in the sun for two days. It has never grown back since.

nice I have SAE and cherry barbs but worried they will eat my baby shrimp, Thats the only thing is I don't want my shrimp to get eaten in the process

I have a pink kissing gourami that likes to chomp on the algae, but it took months for him to show any interest... good luck!

I second the vote for true Siamese Algae Eaters . . . they do the job (for the most part), and get along well with most fish . . . do better in groups of 3 or more

chinese algae eaters generally aren't recommended; never kept them, but from what I've read, they stop eating algae after they mature, and as they get larger, they tend to become belligerent . . .

People will tell you never to buy a fish to eat algae... personally I think it's fine, but only if you have plans to house and feed it afterwards. Don't use Ottos, they will eat algae but since most Ottos you will see for sale are WC, they will eat algae but rarely anything else. When I kept them I didn't have any luck with cucumber, lettuce, flakes, or algae wafers. Your best bet is a Flying Fox. They get about 6", and don't suck on slime. They also look very nice and have great personality and are very active in the upper water column.

Most of them have more black in the dorsal, pelvic, and anal fin, and the white edge stands out great. The best part is, they will eat flakes, pellets, and even frozen meaty foods when the algae is gone. Hope I helped :D

Yup I have tried up to 5 true SAE in my big tank but They seemed to get pretty aggressive during feeding and I didn't want to put them in my small nano because I didn't want them to eat all the baby shrimp, I don't recommend using the CAE because they don't eat algae and once they get mature they start to eat the slime coat off your other fish
