People will tell you never to buy a fish to eat algae... personally I think it's fine, but only if you have plans to house and feed it afterwards. Don't use Ottos, they will eat algae but since most Ottos you will see for sale are WC, they will eat algae but rarely anything else. When I kept them I didn't have any luck with cucumber, lettuce, flakes, or algae wafers. Your best bet is a Flying Fox. They get about 6", and don't suck on slime. They also look very nice and have great personality and are very active in the upper water column.

Most of them have more black in the dorsal, pelvic, and anal fin, and the white edge stands out great. The best part is, they will eat flakes, pellets, and even frozen meaty foods when the algae is gone. Hope I helped :D

Nice lookin fish. Never seen one before in our stores.

You could also try your hand at a DIY Algae Scrubber. I've had some success with them. See the thread by Santa Monica here at Monster.
