One of my LFS' has a very nicely colored green iguana in right now. It's about 18-20" (guessing), and doesn't look very skinny to me, although I'm not an expert on iguana's. I've been thinking about getting one for a while, although it won't be immediately. Is this one a nice specimen? Does $60 sound like a good price for it?

Very nice specimen in fact. It does look nice and healthy and everything. I think $60 is a good price if thats what you want to pay for it. You can get a baby for usually around $20 but thats a nice quality juvi specimen so base it on what you want to pay for it. I think totally worth it!

$60 dollars isn't that out there, but I've seen them for free on craigslist. The downside to craigslist is that you don't know how old or healthy the animal is.

P.s The color is fantastic so all things considered it's looking like a good buy to me.

Iguanas are one of my specialties. I have three right now. One is over 6ft. I think 60 is a fair price for a juvie, a little on the higher end but not too bad. Lovely color. Make sure you find out his diet they have him on. Do your research. Its a commitment that most people dont realize. I have gardens specifically for growing foods for my iguanas. Make aure you have a good habitat for him as well. They need a few specifics.

I have seen ones about that size go for $75 before so I think that $60 is good. If you really wanted to, I am sure you could find them for less but it is not a bad price. Just keep in mind that after you get him, you will end up spending loads more money if you want him to have a nice enclosure. I have spent well over $1000 on mine.

Cool. I hadn't ever seen one that bright green before, so I though it was pretty nice looking, and I think its a fair price for it, considering how healthy it looks. I don't think they've had it very long, maybe a week or two max.

As far as feeding, my fiance and I are both big gardeners, so it wouldn't be a big deal to add a few new varieties for an iggy to enjoy and have a quality diet.

As far as the enclosure, I already have one I think will work. Its 34" long, 30" front to back, and 60" tall. Its all glass, with a large front opening door, and the ceiling is all screen. There is a section below the door about 12" deep, so that I can add any substrate and water/food dishes I might need.

The only problem will be convincing my fiance. She doesn't like it when I get new fish, so getting an iguana would be a much bigger deal. I guess we'll see. She did say she wanted to get a sewing machine this morning... ;)

That size of an enclosure will work for now, but he will need bigger eventually. As he grows up he may catch his tail on something while moving around and break it off. I converted an entire bedroom in my house to house my iguanas.
