No nothing of that. What Im saying is that iguana care has made a exponencial evolution from touse early days of ig care. I still have books that recomend dog food, insects, eggs and meat as a sorce of suplementary protein for igsmercury904;2139148; said:What do you mean? you mean IGs of today ara evolving and they have different requirements now? or are you saying that im might bought a book that is not copyrighted? and have false infos?![]()
No wonder in thouse days it was so comon that igs died young. Many still do but that is fault of the owners, not lack of info. If you want to get a good iguana book (as well you should) here´s 3 great books:"iguanas for dummies" of Melissa Kaplan,"Green iguana, the ultimate owner´s book" by James Hachfield (hoping Im spelling rigthcoura;2139163; said:No nothing of that. By the looks of your setup, it had next to ZERO humidity. The real 'experts' if any here are the ones who have owned them. I have suffered a severe bite from an Iguana, which required stitches. It was very painful. Do I call this a problem? Yes. Major infection is a real problem.nobodys rushing youJessica Dring;2139262; said:I will get pictures for you. Many of my iguana are on the computer not the laptop, I will have to transfer them.
oh dont bother getting the pictures
I will have to try get one of the enclosure. Her vivarium is in the garage which has no lighting other than from her Uv lights and Heat bulbs and with nothing but a camera phone it is hard I'm sure you can imagine.
I have a pic somewhere of her old 8x5x8 (LXWXH) when she was four foot long but her new one is bigger.
Be patient, I will get them for you.

Any advice is on a take-it-or-leave-it basis.
But I do sympathize with Jessica's frustration.(well im frustrated too! through her actions) I've been in this hobby for many years as well and have seen too often the ill results of "impulse purchases" especially with iguanas. So whenever we come across a thread with someone asking "I just got a baby iguana, do they need UV and what do I feed it?"....I'm not going to lie; I roll my eyes, sigh with frustration and think to myself "here we go again." Its nothing personal, but do understand where we're coming from.
Another good example just recently a little more closer to home. My gf and I just went to the big herp show in Daytona. Despite my reservations, she bought a $15 horned lizard. She gets home and does some research and realizes all they eat is ants. The thing is barely and inch long and she is now ordering ants online. She knows its an uphill battle at this point regarding the little guy's survival. My point is (and she agrees) that if she knew then what she knows now, she woulda never got that lizard.
So I encourage EVERYONE to do proper research, research, research, BEFORE getting the animal.
