I'm sorry to hear about your female, but I'm not surprised about the jumping out of the tank. Before you add another female JD for your Male, you should get lids for your tank & have a few places for the female to hide that he can't follow. JD Males can be very aggressive when trying to spawn & can kill the female.no thread to be opened never going to be. this is so because today the female looked like she was starting to have ick so i put her in the hospital tank. i treated her and then left for the rodeo. got back at midnight and she had jumped out and shriveled up on the floor. i am almost sick to my stomach and cant sleep. RIP my shortly had female that was not around long enough for a name.
From what you've told me your Male JD is pretty large. So if you add a small hollow log for the female to hide in, she'll eventually come around. Now if you can't find any lids for your tank, you can make your own with some egg crate sheets, just cut them to fit your tank.
