Green Moray Questions???

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
That wouldn't be nice watching him threw the top of the water, I would get a 210+ tank instead it would only be 500$+ but would deff worth it.

a 210 gallon tank wont hold a giant green for long..... but if you can get a 300+ for a decent price go for it, otherwise a 3-500 gallon stock tank is cheap and its not bad watching morays from above, my whitemouth comes out to greet me when i come to see him.

yeah, a 210 wouldn't last him long enough and there is no way i could find room for one in my house. part of the reason he is going into a pond is because it will be going in the garage and needs to be well insulated. it will also be able to be done for a lot less money.

Maybe put some money away, and start buying things here and there for that moray setup.

Its kinda hard to enjoy your fish in a pond...especially if you have good surface disturbance.

best bet for surface disturbance while being able to see fish is to have a seperate lower section that the top section waterfalls into, it gets great aeration while keeping the main display beautifully smooth for viewing.

Good idea here. Basically a sump, but in the same tank so it can just fall.

Keep in mind evaporation and noise if you do it this way.

They are nocturnal, wouldnt you like to see them roam at night when they are hunting?
But other than that he would be very comfortable not being able to see anyone but a black wall most of the day.

LED moon lights you will get plenty of opportunities to watch them hunt at night or when you feed them.

he is out begging for food all day whether the lights are on or not, and i've got the surface disturbance figured out. i also picked up some rel cheap hunks of glass so i may add a viewing window or two if i feel like it :)
anyone have any information on their growth rate?

Once a large pred fish like this learns that you mean food, they will be out whenever you pass the tank.
