I cant decide on which one to get for my 55 Gallon Aquarium, that I am cycling now. I am getting some other cichlids that are the same colors as the severum (well not exactly but the greenish color) firemouths, festivum, and rainbow cichlid. I cant decide so whichever one wins the poll is the one im getting.

Well, I have an 7 " gold and he is frickin awesome............just added a special new addition to the tank, a heros sp. "rotkeil"...........I would highly recomment this fairly new fish to the trade.........he is commonly referred to as the red head / shouldered severum..........

i have seen both, but i am going to try two new aquarium stores (not new but i havent been to either one) soon so if they have a turquoise severum i will get one of those because i seen a nice one on here. but i dont want to spend a lot on fish probably not more than 8 bucks a fish because these are my first cichlids.

btw this thread is helping i think im going to get the gold because i want a variety of colors in my tank and if i get a green all the cichlids will be close to the same color.

I go for gold!! It's the center piece of my tank :)
She's 6 inches, sexy, and just too sweeet!

I would go gold. The greens have a tendency to get really dark. As mentioned above, the turquoise is really nice if you can find one. The Rotkeil's can be spectacular but really need to be big--larger than 6"

Gold all the way. I have a 8" gold and he is just spectacular. They get a nice dark yellow with red spots. If your lucky you get alot of red spots if not then you can get a solid yellow one. Look for babies with color. If the babies have color the adults will really have color.
