Well went outside to look at the pond today, and she's green as hell!! Im assuming its the spring algae bloom? What do I do to cure this? Ive heard that some type of straw will help the situation. Any help would be fantastic, thanks!

get a UV filter, you will never regret it!!!
my 1100g was so green i couldnt see more than 2" into the pond, and 4-5 days of running 1000gph pump through a UV, and it was 99% clear, and has been ever since (this is my 2nd summer)

but yeah, some people say the straw like product works well. i think it takes a few weeks?? i havent used it though

you should build a diy veggie filter to help clear it excess stuff causing the algea bloom but ive never used a uv filter but im sure they work well a hell of a lot of people use them.

Can you just tap a UV filter in-line somewhere? Would it be better pre or post filter? Thanks!

If you are pump feeding your filtration UV before filtration
If using gravity fed filtration UV after.
That said it is usually better to install them in a bypass so you can regulate the flow through the unit without affecting turnover rate.

Just noticed your build thread UV after the filter berfore the falls

A UV will work - I think Bog filters that are well planted would help stave this off. Or at least I hope they do, Thats my plan - LOL. UV's are easy and cheep (IMO).

you can tap it in line pretty easily, depending on your plumbing setup and the specific UV

my fountain kit actually has a splitter built into it, so half goes to the filter, then to the fountain. while the other half goes to the UV

most UV's will say post filter, once most of the debris is already pulled out of the water.

I run my uv after a pre filter then before the bio tower. works great for me.

Always try to pre-filter befroe entering the UV chamber.
