Green puffer or GSP?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I hate when they get stuck like that. :( Did you read that GSP article I linked you to? There is also an excellent article about F8s there.

gotta have pics, my puffers are both GSP's one is more yellow and limited neon green on his head, he as well as the big female who is my avatar, both turn black on their bellys. these fish are somewhat like chameleons. i have black sand in the tank, and puffmaster tends to stay closer to the darker side.. when i had white gravel she barely ever turned black on her belly unless she was in predator mode... anyway look me up on youtube... puffmaster eating... check out my videos!!!

I am thinking your avatar puff might be a Giant spotted puffer, which doesn't appreciate a lot of salt, according to the folks keeping them at TPF:

im actually taking a look at the article now. i appreciate everyones input, any suggestions getting my puffer to let me take a pic of him so i can let you guys see the black marks on him? i tried again last night and everytime it was about to take the pic he moved like he knew what i was doing and when the picture was about to take. the marks have been worrying me because no one else is having these marks on them and hes been staying towards the surface of the water lately. but when its feeding time hes completely normal. could it just be the fish and his personality?

Try feeding him & then taking a pic.

pufferpunk, you were definitely right on the Fangs, i was looking through the pufferpedia at brackish and the random puffer photo on the left had the exact markings and everything of the "Leopard Red Eye" that i bought at a pet store as a "brackish" puffer. but they are not, i think i will print out the puffer pedia page on the Fangs and take it to the pet store today to give them what they desperately need: right information!!! you know your stuff very well on these fish, and i can only hope i can keep learning from this site and looking at posts to see what people say and hold as much information as you guys can on this species, i love these fish! they all seem to be awesome, fresh, brackish and full salt water puffers.

the very first picture at the bottom on the left is exactly what mine looked like and thats the picture that popped up.

Glad I could help get your puffer into the proper conditions.

mabye figure 8 puffer?

well no unfortunately he died. he lasted like a week in the brackish tank and died like a day before i saw your response on what type he might be. but i did let the pet store know and they just gave me however much he was in store credit so i got some ghost shrimp. what would be a nice rock for these guys that i can decorate the tank with that wont release off any harmful chemicals?
