Green Severum Spawn

Here are a few pictures on my Green Severums spawn. From Mom guarding eggs on through today with Mom and Dad keeping them behind some driftwood so I ccouldnt get a good picture of them. The first picture is the best one I have of the fry so far. They were all at the front of the tank until I stuck the camera near them. Fry are 3 days or so old at this point.

If I can get any to grow out in the tank they are in i will propably give them to friends and trade them at the local fish store I use for food or another Aqua Clear 110. They are in a 180 with 7 Severums, 4 Gold, 3 Green (2 are the parents), a Blood Parrot and a Uaru. They have managed to keep the majority alive so far, but once they start swimming all over the numbers will propably drop. If I get the time, I might siphon them off and put them in a 30 gal I have sitting empty.

I would certainly separate them. If the parents aren't showing any mouthbrooding then it may not last. I could be wrong though.

Unless they were specifically bought as Heros Severus then they aren't going to Mouthbrood. If you're looking to sell the fry I would definitely separate them, but if you want to see how things pan out I'd say at least a few of them will survive as Severums aren't really notorious for taking live feeders, and I wouldn't imagine an Uaru would be interested. Not sure about the Blood Parrot (Why with such taste do you have one of these? ).

Just out of curiosity, in the fourth photo down, is the fish on the right Mum? If that's a female she's got beautiful fin extensions.

Congrats on your new fry. Ime Severum make good parents. Mine never were a mouth brooding pair. I think that only the true Heros Severus are delayed mouth brooders?

Oh I just saw the previous post. So it is Heros Severus. That would be cool.
