angels and discs might be a better choice for the tank...

I wouldn't even put angels and discus in it. With their pecking orders in groups, you really need to give them swimming room. I've never liked tall tanks for any cichlids unless you kept a pair of small fish like rams or Apistos in them.

I'd try to find a rectangular tank for your severum. He may be happier with room to stretch his fins.
