all these people here agree that a 55 is too small.
only one person here thinks a 55 is fine.
that one person also mentions using "reason" when he results to insulting us because he makes assumptions about our age. and we're the kids here, huh?
OK I will get a 75 :) so for schooling fish, people say you should add them first so the GT/more aggressive fish won't get as territorial? Should I get all the schooling fish at once so they can school or one at a time?

If you think a 10" (with the tail) fish being kept in a 55 is wrong, then you are either extremely inexperienced, a kid, and probably both. Not many people will comment on something like a GT,unless it is a true GT around here. Gold Saums are too common and too easy to keep. You can find all the info you need on the net without having to post a thread about how to keep them. Live and learn kiddo.

Re-read what I said about keeping streamlined expensive fish with a GT.

Good luck with your decisions...
I don't care much about costs yet I'm just trying to figure out how to put the fish in and what fish? I have a lot of money to spend on fish so I'm not really worried, all the stuff without the tank including decor will cost 300-500 so I don't care much on the prices of fish unless they are like 100 each I will probably spend 20-100 on fish or more?

you should get them all at once. i dont think it matter whats you get for a while. i think eventually the gt will kill most of them once he puts some size on.
but seriously, go for the 75. i had my red devil/midas in a 55 for a while and i was very happy when i put him in a 75. the extra width really gives them a lot more wiggle room. but now, at his adult size, i feel the 4' tank just enough. its likely ill be moving in about 2 years. when that time comes, ill be moving him into a 125.
ill say it again, big fish need big tanks.

Good plan! I'm moving so that's why I'm getting the tank.. Getting a 75 if that doesn't work out I will get a 55 but I'm getting a juviline GT so by the time he gets 10 inches (2-3 years) we will probably move again and get a 125-200 gallon :) can't wait for that!

A amphilophus and a gold saum are two completely different fish....and both different sizes. Neither is that big.

Yes.

Also any good dithers? Small colors like neons or just not noticeable, would my GT be happy if I fed him guppies? I could breed guppies in my old 10 gallon :) what do you think of a snail for the GT tank? Apple snail? Mystery snail? Some of those small snails? Just to clean algae. I don't want a pleco because they make a lot of waste and are sometimes aggressive AND take up a lot of space by growing like 2 feet! Maybe 2 ottos? Just as a cleaning fish? Something small that is fast and can hide and blend in with camouflage to hide from MR GT lol, let me know what you think :)

im sure snails will be eaten. i also think any long, slim fish will be eaten quickly. if you keep up with water changes you shouldnt have any eal algae problems. i scrub the little algae that grows on my 75 once every couple of months or so haha.
