Green terror advice

Very possible it was some species of fish eating snake. We have a few species in North America that are fish eaters and I don't know as much about aussie snakes other than pythons, but I could bet there's an opening for your filter that would allow a snake to get your fish. Would be an odd coincidence that a fish eating snake made its way into your home and made off with the fish but all snakes are predatory and I imagine even a species not known to eat fish would be drawn to the fish moving around and make an easy meal out of them. I love my snakes but my blood pythons are fat sausages, nothing that isn't dangled in front of their face is at risk of consumption.

No. We don't get many snakes where I live. And unless snakes evolve arms, it seems unlikely.

He would take cold-blooded prey though, most likely.......you think Pythons of any genus will take FISH for a meal?

I know Sydney has less snakes than many parts of Australia but don't discount the craftiness of snakes when hunting. They have been seen doing things in homes that are shocking when it comes to the lengths they go to feed.

I don't know of any specific species of Boide in Australia that specifically target fish but there are MANY lizard eating specialist on that continent. Here's a good resource for the snakes of Sydney that I found to be an interesting read. Although not extremely scientific, the write up seemed well informed. It includes descriptions of known species in the area as well as feeding habits and such. http://www.smuggled.com/sydsna1.htm

FIXED. Most of all, FISH......I highly doubt it.
 
Any way, we should get back to the topic. Changed my mind a bit. New ideas:

Green terror
Firemouth
Jewel cichlid
Yellow acara
Blue acara
Black convict
