Hi all im new here and im wondering if anyone can help me. I recently bought a Green Terror and put it in my tank, but since the day i put it in (3 days ago) my dalmation molly and blue neon dwarf gourami not leave it alone. The molly like bumps into the green terror's side near its tail fin (i was told the molly may be trying to breed with the green terror) and the gourami just kamakazi's straight at my green terror and chases it round the tank lol. So today i went to my local pet store and they told me 3 things, the first one is to clean out the tank and move some decoration about, so i did and now the tank is very shiney and clean and had a water change and moved some stuff about etc but that hasnt helped any. The second option is to introduce another molly and another dwarf gourami into the tank in an attempt to turn there attention to the same species as them and if that doesn't work he said you will have to get rid of one or the other.
I don't want to get rid of any fish so are they any other possibilities anyone can think of?
The dalmation molly is male cos it has a bigger top fin and the bottom fin is just like a stick (whereas the females have a smaller top fin and 3 little bottom fins) and the gourami i believe is also a male (got told the female dwarfs are smaller than the male) so im only assuming my green terror is female? (how can i tell if it is male or female? Its only about 2 inches in size).
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,Sean

first off green terrors aren't agressive till they mature I had to ask the same question but what is he doing with those tankmates he will slay and eat if u would like to keep those fish go ahead and buy you at least a 48in long tank to house him in bigger if u want buddies and get other big centrals or souths CICHLIDs or they will die don't think it's possible for the two to breed either do what u want but also keep in mind males can get about 11in females a bit smaller but nothing less than 6 inches a big 6ins

Mollies think they're tough. I know this first hand. I nad a Dalmatian Molly that used to bully everyone in my community tank. I put an Acaei cichlid in there and the molly even tried to bully him. One morning I woke up and my molly was dead.

Someone else had a similar problem with a molly. They added an African cichlid and the molly was harrassing it. My understanding would be that the Molly or whatever fish is bullying might see the cichlid as a threat/enemy. But once the cichlid gets settled in and grows those fish will be destroyed.

There is no way they are tryign to mate with the Green Terror.

something similar happened to me - had to put a male betta and a frontosa in the same tank for a little while. Both were about 2.5". Initially the betta wouldn't leave the frontosa alone....constantly chasing/picking on it. Then one day (actually maybe the forth day) the frontosa torn all the fin extensions off the betta, and it looked exactly like a female.

Betta is recovering fine. Frontosa went into a bigger tank. So yeah, I wouldn't worry about the GT at all. The molly on the other hand.......

Just like when you introduce any fish, the older fish will not always like that. Ive seen videos of feeder fish punking predators. Its kinda like a psychology thing. Some animals will know they are prey and will act aggressive to maybe scare off predators. Im assuming your GT is small, but once it realizes that its stronger it will kill the molly and gourami.

My suggestion would be to either accomodate for the GT, or accomodate for the Molly and Gourami. Pick proper tank sizes and tankmates or else there will be deaths.

At 2 inches in size it can be hard to sex a green terror........Answer this questions is the Green Terror Light or Dark?
