i got this pair of gts about a month ago at 2.5" both male and female , they have been growing very fast my female is at 3.5" and the male is about a quarter inch smaller . i kno she can spawn at her size cuz her tube is out but has not dropped yet she has also been chasing the male around the tank looking for his attention , i've heard she wont lay eggs with him unless she half his size i dont know how true it is cause i've seen pairs the same exact size spawn together. i was up early the other day and saw them going thru mating rituals going head to tail spinning in circles, tail smacking and lip locking but have not seen any real signs of them laying eggs what should i do?

Anyone please help.

Sorry I'm not an expert with GT's. But it sounds like you have a pair working. All you can do is wait & let them take care of business. I don't think that size matters as long as they are both sexually mature & willing.

Good Luck
Jill ;)

give them a flat rock to lay their eggs on and jsut wait

I've got a bunch of flat rocks a clay pot and two houses from spongebob and sand subtrate since they are subtrate spawners

Sounds like you have everything you need. Just give them time, Mine have spawned five times in almost three years. Are you sure about the sex? the behavior sounds backwards, the one in your avatar is Male(and a very nice one)

ok the one thing that always help fish spawn is a dig water change on the tank. Do about 75% wc and let the fish work. a lot of times a wc is all they need i have breed a lot of fish. they always layed eggs after a wc 80% of the time. try it and all so do big wc every 1-2 weeks and they will grow faster to.

The one in my avatar isn't mine but my male looks alot like it thou and I know the other is a female cause it has a large downward pointing breeding and ive kept two males in this tank before n the dominant one killed the other
