Green Terror Care Guide

Depends on the parasite. We need more information about the tank size, how long it's been cycled (and how), water parameters, and other tank mates.

I find the advice of a 40 gal, or even a 75 gal misleading, especially to new cichlid keepers.
You could grow out some juvies up to about 4" in a 40, and I consider a 75 gal only large minimally enough for a 7.5" fish. Beside the territorial issues in such small tanks, any fish of size would quickly degrade water quality without large recent daily water changes.
I believe 10 gallons per inch of adult cichlid in absolute minimum (and minimum is just that, not even close too ideal).
So to me you need at least a 100 gallon tank, for a pair, or trio of 10" Andinoacara.
a 10 inch fish in a 40 breeder is fine, the tank is 3 foot by 18 inches, it can turn around fine and move, I've seen full grown ones in there and they are fine.

I agree with Duane. To add to that I would never recommend keeping a flowerhorn with a GT. Ditto to red devils. Even in a 100+ gallon tank.
I have keep all of them together, as long as they aren't breeding I have found them to get along fine with eachother, at the store we had a 270 (72"x36'3"24) and we had a dempsey, green terror, oscar, red devil, and a flowerhorn in there, they got along fine. Guess it depends on the fish

In a 40 breeder it has room to move, as long as you keep it clean it will live. As always, the bigger the tank, the better

Yes, with cichlids it always depends on the fish. But when you play the averages, not what can, or might, or maybe, these are not fish that I would ever recommend mixing, unless one has a very large tank. You left that part out of the equation, the store tank was close to 300 gallons, the tanks that you mentioned were a 40, and a 75. See how that doesn't come across as being sound advice?

I didn't try to imply that you can keep them together in a 40 or 75, though I'll try to make it clear in the future that you can't do that.

Well Mike at the very least if you are going to offer potential tank mates, especially fish that are known to be hyper aggro (I've kept RD's and several FH) you might want to mention the need of a large 250+ gallon or more tank, to increase the chance for long term success.

“Mike”, I have a 6 inch severum in a 75 gallon which is decently active and I couldn’t imagine anything bigger in there unless it was like a rock. Having a foot long fish in a 40 breeder which is just a foot shorter than a 75 is just insane.

Also instead of pulling random pages off of the internet try to find threads here which back up your opinion.
