I have a siamese algae eater in there now and a Chinese crested, i forgot to mention them. is it possible they ate the snails?

no clue man. never had one

People don't like to hear this but if snails get out of hand it's because you are overfeeding. Maybe you need a little more flow to kick up the debris a bit more so your filter can remove it.
