Green Terror (gold saum) feeding question

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I understand that not all fish eat veggies. But GT's are omivores. They need both meats and veggies in their diet. So if only feed your GT live food (I hope u don't mean feeders but frozen food, because feeder can be very bad), how do u keep the diet from being too high in protein? From what i reseached GT need veggies in there diet. no veggies mean high protein which mean bad health issues later on. So back to my origanal question. Is the feeding schedule I have her on going to keep her heathy???

mine will eat frozen peas. i put them in a glass of water the microwave for a minute, then de-shell them and then put it in the tank.

heres mine

lol nice GT but i guess u didnt see where i wrote that i tried peas and mine will not eat them. again i have tried several veggies (please read previous post) Once again i ask will the diet i have her on will keep her heathly (please read prevois posts for diet list) This is not my fist gt nor i am not new to fish keeping, however this is the fist gt i could not get to eat veggies. i need a diet plan thats not high in protein and/ or a way to get veggies in her diet!!

My cichlids won't eat veggies. Don't worry about her not eating veggies, she will be fine.

thanks. but i cant help to worry bout her. gotton real attached to her. taking alot of tlc to nurse her back to health.

NLS has a fair amount of veggies in it and my GT loves it. Can give that a try.

I would just be patient. In the short term the diet she is eating will be fine. I agree that more veg matter in the diet would be ideal .... but you're looking at the long term. Just persevere giving her as varied a diet as you possibly can. Get a few different sorts of pellets to increase variety.
You state that you "recently" got her. many cichlids will become more adventurous with foods as they settle in more, and you may find her to be more varied in what she eats as time goes on.
Also, I have not found a fish that will not eat the Tetra Vegetable pro crisps.

Try a frozen multi-diet if you really want to push veggies into the diet, I haven't had problems with my green terrors eating just a staple cichlid diet though and using these for treats.

My GT has no problem eating, blood worms and brime shrimp... the problem getting enough veggies in her diet. and one of those packet has turkey heart in it. imo i dont thank that good for any fish. But thanks for the share.
