Green Terror Harem?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Nice terrors! The blue on that male is very vivid! At 6 inches he doesn't look very beefy as you say! Feed him the meaty stuff, but mix it up with the usual also. For the reason you listed above. I don't mean to doubt you, but are you sure they are 3" and 6"? They just look smaller thats all! It may be due to the parasites. They haven't yet achieved their adult colours yet IMO, they will continue to gain colour - especially the orange on the fins.

haha, i dunno how, but both measurements were a half inch off. I guess I was just measuring hopefully. To be accurate, the male is actually 5.5" and the female is between 2.5".

Okay! That makes a difference! I will measure my guys this week (i am away this weekend). But i guess they are similar sized to yours. I currently feed my guys: frozen bloodworm, daphnia, mysis, with hikari gold and the odd insect and earthworm. What other inhabitents are in your tank? As i think my male GT being the alpha of the tank makes his colours improve.

The only inhabitants now are the female, her 8 young, 1 senegal bichir and 3 bristlenose.

When the male goes back in and the pair resumes breeding behavior, I may have to take out the bichir, but he was with them beforehand while they were breeding. The young GTs may move or I may just keep them in there to use as dithers/grow out. I'm not planning on having trouble with the bristlenose, but they're breeding and if they cichlids make trouble for them, they'll go into their own tank

I have a 60g growout tank i want to make my gt breeding tank, but its heavily stocked with fish, what should i do with them? My lfs for some reason wont take any fish at all.

Advertise them on craigslist and such, or get another tank. Or just get the GTs a seperate tank.
