Green terror in a 55? Opinions? Thoughts?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I think a 55 would be a great grow-out, but 75 or larger would eventually be necessary, due to the eventual possible size of 12" (a 55 gallon is only 12" wide)
If you absolutely don't see yourself upgrading the tank, I would get another cichlid that stays a bit smaller and would be comfortable in the 55 gallon. Hericthys Deppi or Bartoni are two highly aggressive cichlids which stay about 8-9", and a nice big male would make a good solo monster fish for this tank.

I decided to just post here instead of replying to everyone, idk if I mentioned it but I wanted to grow the gt out and hopefully keep him/her in a 55. If staying in the 55 isn't a viable idea, I wanted to put the guy in a pond, of course properly heated, once I move (in 2 weeks!). I'll get settled and a year from then I will probably have everything in my pond ready for fish. My parents gave me the whole basement as a "fishroom" too! So when the right craigslist deal comes on I'll add the tank to my list of, well, tanks!
