A male GT will want the 55 only for himself. I think evetually you will have to remove other small cichlids. With a weak cichlid like FM, its not worth taking the risk. Also what is the point of adding a fish if you will remove it in a year?

Good point

Also, I would expect the GT (If its a male) to run the FM around until it destroyed it. MY male GT chases my FM and they're in a 90 with a JD.

I would say that if you've had your current fish (FM, Con) for a while, judge their temperment...How would you expect them to react? I added my Male GT at 4 1/2" cause I knew my JD would be cool with another fish in the tank, the FM is just a bluffer and doesn't nail anybody, so it works well.

I'd try it but make sure the GT is the same size or even a little bigger than the others because they are very slow growers IME, and if it fell too far behind the others it may be double teamed? I think it may end up being the GT's tank after he hits 5-6"

Good luck

I would get a bigger GT than the other fish are... and guys, in my experience, 7/10 green terrors have the aggression level of a neon tetra. It should be fine. Get the GT as big as possible, so the con doesnt kill it.

Interesting...More evidence that fish temperment varies from fish to fish. I have never had a real "Terror" either but know a guy who took one in (Someone got fed up with it's agression). Put it in a tank with a 18-20" arrowana to calm the GT down (so he thought) and it harassed the arrowana so bad it was lying on its side at the top of the tank within a week, stressed. he put it in its own tank after that. That GT was 4"

Its a crap shoot.

My 3" GT lived very well in the 55 with a breeding pair of convicts(3"&4") for a month. He even ate some fry. Their agression might change from one specimen to another but their agility and resistance dont change. Dont underestimate their capability. I have seen many GTs in the same tank with RDs and in some of them GT was the boss.

I had a 4" GT with a 4" jaguar in my 55 for a while. I raised them from about an inch and a half together. The jag would pick on it occasionally but never bad. Then one day the GT snapped, almost killed the jag. The GT now resides in the 55 with a senegal bichir, 4 SD and a pictus. Plan on upgrading the tank to at least a 75 within a couple months.

As far as them being slow growers, my GT outgrew the jag, convict, severum, firemouth and jd that started in the tank with it.
