Green Terror, JD & Oscar

Sorry, but keeping water quality up with an Oscar in a 55g is very difficult. I'd recommend a GT or two, a JD or two, or one of each but no oscars. Mine out-pooped his 75 gallon when he hit 9". Now he's in a 125g.

A single Oscar is too big for a 55, It would need at least need a 75. A GT will get too long for a 55 as they grow up to 12" and that is usually the max width of a 55. A JD will fit nicely in a 55. Under no circumstances should all 3 be kept in a 55. It would be super cramped and the bioload would be unbelievable.

I think that's too many aggro cichlids for a 55g. Would suggest dropping the GT and trying JD / FM / Con. But even there you may have problems depending on individual personalities.

i had an oscar gt nd a jd nd the demps killed the gt now i have the oscar bout 9 inch jd bout 6 nd a salvinii and a tex bout 5 all geting along fine in a 55 i have to change my fluval 305 once every other week its all good

just put alot of hiding places because when i didnt my dempes was super aggro now that i do he mellowed out

no gt in a 55.. and i strongly feel that a 55 is to small for a jack demspey to. males can and will obtain 10 inches if not 12. i saw a breeding pair in my lfs tank and the male jack was 12 inches and in a 55. if its a female jack then that should be fine as they useally top out at 6 to 8 sometimes 10 inches. try and go for 1 firemouth 1 convict ( all males ) and one blue acara. again all males so no hybreds occure from the fish wanting to breed with each other
