Hey all,

My green terror stopped eating a few days ago. Haven’t seen any poop at all. Certainly more timid and slow moving but nothing visually out of the ordinary. He’s in a somewhat community tank and no one else is experience any difficulty. His mouth isn’t closing all the way which seems odd and for a couple of days seemed to me yawning or coughing a bunch. My thought is bloat or constipation? I’m not sure. Any advice on treatment would be much appreciated. Hate to lose him. He’s gorgeous.

Would keep the water as ur doing. Add a little Epsom salt 1 tbsp per 5g. Wait a few days and see if it improves with fasting. What are u feeding?

Hikari floating and sinking pellets. Pretty exclusively. I’ve heard of people taking epsom salt and dissolving in water to inject directly into the mouth of the fish. Is this common or safe? My QT tank is holding a couple trouble makers as I try and rehome, so seems like a lot of salt for a 125. What’s more effective? Thanks for the reply!

Epsom salt if it's an intestinal issue, but looking at your stock list and description of the green terror, are you sure he hasn't had a feud with one of the other fish? You won't always see aggression when you're around. Sometimes the real nastiness happens when you're not around, lights out, at night, etc.

Did this come on suddenly?

It was sudden yes. He and the red devil are the kings of the tank. Nobody messes with him. He does the messing. So I do not think that’s it. One dose of epsom salt directly into tank is best starter move in this situation? Or should I inject directly into fish? Not sure what else to do.

Would dose the tank and see the response. Can inject directly but suggest the less stressful approach. It’s common and safe. Hard to say which is more effective.

It does sound like this is due to fighting. “Lip locking”
Keep a close eye on him and be ready to remove him or whoever he is fighting with.

Tanks already got aquarium salt in it. Will the epsom be too much? Or don’t worry about it. Prepared to do my first dose today
