Gold Saum. Commonly referred to as a Green Terror.

Aequidens rivulatus

Gold Saum, false Green Terror. There are 3 variants of the Aequidens Rivulatas family. Gold Saums, Silver Saums, and True Aequidens Rivultas or True Green Terror. Lots of fish keepers call the Gold Saum and Silver Saums False Green terrors as the True rivultas was the first in the hobby. Maybe XR or Greenterra or other more knowledgeable keepers will elaborate.:)

hmmm, anyone have any pics of a true GT

If what I said confused you its a Gold Saum I was just telling you about the others that are also called Green Terrors.

apparently, the Gold Saum, Silver Saum, and Green Terror are all geographical variations of the same species (Aequidens rivulatus). There is ongoing debate as to whether or not they are actually the same species, or three seperate species under the same genus.

don't worry about all that, though. you have a Green Terror; more specifically a Gold Saum variety of a Green Terror.

Gold Saums are the most common, Silver Saums less common, and True Green Terrors are quite rare.

It is a gold saum, and is commonly called a Green Terror. True Green Terrors are exceedingly rare in the hobby. For a pic, just check out Rapps' site, tangledupincichlids.com.

The Green Terror that was originally described was nothing like the Green Terrors (Saums) we see nowadays.

As you can see from this picture the GT originally described has black edgings on it's scales with white on the inside.

Here's a picture of a Green Terror aka Silversaum as you can see the scales are the opposite, colored on the outer edge and dark on the inside.

To answer the OP question, yes it's a male Green Terror the goldsaum variety.
