so my GT will be moved to a new home, a beautiful 180G tank and will get a friend as soon as she is ordered, but WILL a GT male like to be together with a female festae? Red terror am i correct? is that the correct name?

plus what is the exact festae scientific name? i found sites giving me several names and i want to be sure before i give my LFS my order :)

The correct name is Festae. I believe they are in the ex cichlasoma category atm. so ex cichlasoma festae. It would be a hit or miss with the two. If she likes him it will be good but if she doesn't (more likely she wont) then she really wont and there wont be a gt. But my female was much more subtle than my male.

I would only order from a vendor or lfs that can order a Festae for sure and not a Mayan.

I tried a small Gt with the Festae in my avatar and couldn't make them
Co-exist in and 8' tank. Not to say it will happen to you but alot will be up to individual fish temperament.

Just be ready to make adjustments along the way.

Yeah unfortunately. Sometimes, rescaping the tank or introducing new "target" fish can work, but I eventually had to part with my gt because nothing I tried worked...

i will have the GTs first 40G tank still up and running and most likely no fish in it until i get a chance to see how they get a long, (hopefully they do get along) it would make my tank the perfect "terror" tank ,
this is all IF y LFS does have the correct fish to order because that all depends on the exporter they buy from in Thailand and Singapore
thank you all for the help and i will let yall know what happens :D

I had a fully grown female GT and fully grown female festae together for about two years. Just lost the GT recently, but it wasn't to the festae. There was also a smaller male GT in there for a while with no aggression issues.

How big is the female festae that your gonna order? Make sure the festae is smaller than your male GT! I hope you have caves/hiding places for your GT? Your female festae will probably end up killing your GT? Good luck tho!

My female festae is eight inches and my male GT was four-five. Again, no issues between them. That was in a 125 with five other cichlids of a similar range in size. In short, won't know unless you're willing to try it.
