My GT which is 7 inches long, has been lately chillin at the bottom corner of the tank. 2 weeks i treated him for parasites and all seems well now. It eats occasionally, and is still responsive when im near the tank. My son tells me he has no house thats why he is like that. Should i make him a hiding spot? Or add some dithers?

I think dithers will help. I think it will make him more comfortable. What size tank is he in? Sometimes when a fish is in a tank that is too small for them it can make them skittish.

both, pic of your setup? dimensions filtration? adding stimulating objects will also help, bright colored plants fake or real, rockwork and wood also, a background and blacked out sides, lots of things contribute to the comfort of your fish

I think it could be the setup. I just got river rocks, and plants. Maybe i need some driftwood. Tank is 75g with two marineland biowheels. I do water changes every two weeks. I am now goin to switch his diet alot more also. With college and work, i now feel i was neglecting him a tad bit.

You should probally do a 50 % weekly water change. Also what are you feeding? A;so put some fast barbs in there it will definately help him feel more comfortable.

I bought four more plants and will be lookin into some driftwood. Besides dithers could some other cichlids? Im just worried about my GT makin new fish into dinner.

with dithers and such a large specimen that hasn't lived its entire life with smaller fish they may become dinner for a while, make sure you quarantine the new fish before mixing, you can do other cichlids make sure they are semi aggressive, just enough to not be bullied, i have seen blue acaras work at a public aquarium with a couple gold saums but your mileage may vary as yours is already well grown. otherwise i would just add a bunch of large flat rocks and lace rock and create some caves and archways for him. 3 silver dollars may be something you'll like if get sub adults to adults, anyway goodluck hope he is okay

Thanks bro. I just think he is a lonely ol fish.

I would get some hiding spots for the fish.
When a fish doesn't have the hiding spots it will feel stressed and probably will lay down in the corner of the tank.
So i would buy some large hiding spots to make your fish happy
hiding spots= happy fish.
I have also experienced this when i feed my fish a little to much.
