Green Terror Tank Mates

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Hello everyone this is my first post and I'm looking forward to the conversations and loads of information on here. I have finished cycling my 60 gallon tank and have 2 female Green Terrors and Two Large Silver Dollars. They are all doing awesome and get along on the most part. The one green terror gets aggressive before and after she lays eggs but they are best buddies any other time. I was looking at adding some clown loaches and I've always wanted a Tiger Oscar. What advice do you have and is there any other fish you would suggest with or instead. Any information would be much appreciated.

The options to seem fairly limited though with a 60 gallon aquarium and considering the fish you already have in there, but a tiger oscar might be feasible temporarily. If you did add a tiger oscar, I would not add anything else because even this fish would really push the limits, if not too far already. This also depends on the level of filtration and water changes though. I would suggest maybe smaller cichlids such as perhaps a firemouth or similarly sized fish. Perhaps a problem regarding a firemouth is these tend to be a little more peaceful so the green terrors, especially considering you mentioned they was about four inches, might harass the firemouth too much. Maybe a Jack Dempsey, but then the Jack Dempsey will grow and I think you will have aggression issues when considering the tank size. Realistically, you would probably be better off with no more fish, unless you got rid of the silver dollars, assuming you preferred cichlids... I hope this helps! :)

Do you have any more pictures? Identifying the fish tends to be difficult because of the background or clarity of the water. Considering these photos, these fish do seem to appear to be female.

Well my Green Terror laid eggs once again. I have no male in the tank just curious if anyone knows why they continue to do this.

You have the right water conditions and they are receiving the correct amount of nutrients to "tell" their bodies to produce eggs. What's your feeding schedule and what do you feed them?
