Green Terror tankmates

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I’ve had a handstander before and it didn’t really move around to much unless it’s feeding time. Feel like the lack of movement would get it killed with a gt
Probably because they are schooling fish. Having 1 will definitely not have the same results as a school of them.

I had 2 of 3. This was a bit before I joined mfk but they moved during feeding and when one of the tetras would get close to them but any other time the we’re staying still.

I'm using Roedoides tetras as shoalers, Astyanax would also do well, both get large, and their higher bodies discourage predation in the right size tank..
But...Any tetra large enough not to snack on will do, adult Serpae might work.

If don't mind a geographically in-correct biotope, Congo Tetras can be bought at decent sizes.
Although not shoalers, the two Goby's I tried made the tank interesting.

Above Awaous, below Eleotris. Both Endemic to the same habitat GTs come from.

Might try serpae. I know it’s pushing my luck, but since they’re both top dwellers do you think a bottom dweller like large Cory’s? Would work?

I’d say silver dollars, but their skittish nature can often be more of a problem.
Aussie rainbows can work too. Buenos Aires would probably do well, not as slender as a danio and much faster.

Unless going for the giant Cory species, it would probably end in disaster. Hoplos would fare better.

Both Hoplo and Corydorus are not naturally found west of the Andes, so if a geographically correct biotope is preferred, they do not belong.
If biotope correctness is not important, then the larger type Corys or Hoplo might work.
West of the Andes, armored catfish of the genus Farlowella are common, and can make a slight dent in algae, if that is of interest.
They are also common here in Panama, and are on my collection list, to try in the Andinoacara tank (although I have not been able to get experience with them yet).

In a 75g couldn’t he do 2 gt and try to pair them up?
Depends on the individuals. A mean pair would probably not work out, but mellow one would do fine. Best to get a group and let them pair off rather than force it.
