Thanks the male has a great personality, he will swim at the front glass and beg for food...i'm trying to hand feed him but he is still a little shy.

If your female had not laid eggsI would have sworn it was also male. Very colourful and the head looks like it has a bump starting.
There was me thinking GTs were easy to sex.... I guess I need to look into what sex mine is again.

As for hand feeding mine does now and again depending on how hungry (s)he is.

How exactly do you vent a fish? Do you have to take them out the tank and flip them over? eek sounds stressful :nilly:

Hope you don't mind me piggy backing on your new GT post but I also have a new one. I'm unsure as to its sex but it seems to be doing well so far. I have loads of driftwood in the tank and he seems to really like the security. He comes to the front of the tank whenever I get near and eats heartily. He still won't eat out of my hand but I think the two angels and seven tiger barbs will have him trained in a few weeks.

Been feeding him blood worms, beef heart, cichlid gold pellets, and sinking shimp pellets. Any suggestions on his diet?

What your feeding sounds great. I feed frozen blood worms, krill, brine shrimp, hikari sinking pellets, beef heart (my recipe)

As for the sexing usually it is by the hump that the male gets on their head but there is always exceptions (seen in my female) so the only 100% way to sex them is through venting. To vent, next your fish and hold them belly up with their head facing to your left. Look just in front of the anal fin at their...well orifices.
male = oo
female = oO
