Screw GT's. They just shrink and die. How will you feel when you put food into your GT's tank and he doesn't eat it? For weeks on end? But how nice it will be to put any edible object you can imagine into the Oscar tank knowing fully well it will get eaten.

Tiger Oscars are pretty lame, though. Get a Wild O, lemon O or maybe a ruby red. Some many better options than tiger!

I dont have that kind of availability around me :/

I vote GT. I like both but...
Oscar Con: The Os are so messy. They grow faster and larger, eat more food, make a ton more waste (so more work). Prone to HILH no less then GTs are to internal parasites.
Oscar Pros: They USUALLY have less aggressive tendencies but with all fish it depends on personality.

GT Cons: More aggressive usually, Prone to internal parasite (can be avoided) It should be noted that Os are prone to HILH but can be avoided usually by keeping good water conditions just like the GT's problems can be avoided by diet.
GT Pros: Better looking imo, clean eater, depending on the temperament it can be kept with larger dithers or other cichlids with similar temperament depending also on tank size

Thats my $0.02

I lost one of the first GTs I owned, but other than that I've found they're very easy to raise. And mine eat like crazy.

I vote oscar mainly because I have one and haven't owned a GT before. I have however owned many types of cichlids and so far the oscar is by far one of my favs. Only fish I own now that I like more than my O are my dats.

The GT packs a lot of color, but as many people have already said, it doesn't have the same personality as the oscar. Now I've never kept either of these, but the stories I hear about people and their oscars are amazing. It's definitely on my list of "fish to have before I die", but so is the GT but not for the same reasons.

Im not really worried about having a fish that interacts with me haha, i love the way the GTs look over an oscar, and have heard they are less messy eating wise. Also could a senegalus be kept with a GT?

It would depend on the size and temperament of both fish but I have a budy that keeps an his 10-11" GT with an Albino Polypterus and there is no problem.
