Green Terror - What Do You Make of This!!

Very cool. A while back I mentioned that my male Heros notatus does the same thing. He kidnaps fry from my Atabapo severum pair and guards them. He's even gone as far as to try and "help" the pair by swimming into their territory and corralling fry around, but the pair doesn't realize his good intentions and usually beat the crap out of him.

Discus can sometimes be used as surrogates for another discus' fry, so my friend Al (brewmaster15) from SimplyDiscus did an experiment and put some angelfish eggs into a spawning discus pair's tank. They ended up raising the angel fry as their own along with their spawn.

I guess the parenting instinct is really strong with particular fish.

There is a chance that the GT hybridize with the other female fish and thought he is the father. In a big tank with two breeding pairs, even of different species, there is a chance that both pairs lay eggs and rear fry at the same time. The fry will mix up and both parents will protect the mixed fry.
