green terror with convict

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I definitely agree with VRWC. Just get rid of the con, they're a dime a dozen. If anything try to pick up a female GT. That male has alot of potential. And a 75g would be great for a breeding pair of GT's. If you can find a white/silver saum female you could get some nice babies. But thats just my opinion.

And plus if you get a breeding pair of cons you're just going to end up with hundred of little monsters that your not going to be able to sell or more than likely even give away.

Mine keep to themselves, and have an imaginary line that if another fish passes they really only chase past the line, then return to their rocks. Otherwise they don't go out of their way to bother any other of my fish.. including my 2" GT.

All fish have different personalities and if this con is already this aggressive with the GT, I guarantee it will get 100 times worse when it gets a mate. They can be nasty fish.

ok thanks guys i've taken back the con to the lfs i really don't want to risk my gt getting all torn up :)

Hi Davew, what you have there is a Gold Edge Green Rivulatus, or the common name, Green Terror. If he's not being bit then there should not be a real problem, however, if you see the con has taken over territory... I have just the thing. Involves a bit of sweat from your side though unfortunately! I re-arranged my 300g! Every rock, plant, wood and gravel! Leave the gt in the tank while doing the changes but keep the con out. When finished, put the con back in! He has no more territory of he's own anymore and will just claim a section for himself. Worked for me! Good Luck!!

tank is a 55gallon but i'm planning on upgrading to a 75gallon later this year.

I'd skip the 75 and go with a 90 or 110 for your GT over here in the states not much difference in cost. A mature GT with a kok in a larger display tank is magnificent .. GL

I agree with this, I'd shoot for the 110, it'd be more efficient maintenance wise. Larger tanks are easier to maintain than smaller tanks. You could also put a good sized school of dither fish in and do a pair of GT's and have a very nice looking tank with some nice fish.

It depends. I have a 4inch con that would chase my 2 inch male GT. As soon as my Male GT got around the same size. They Battled Hard for a couple of hours. Now the Con has been moved to his own tank.
