haha made ya look.

seriously though, I took my green terror out of my 75 because it was growing so slow and I thought it had parasites. I put it in my 29 gallon community with african butterfly cichlid, 3 inch male bolivian ram, and some various tetra...and a betta.

Well He is not causing any trouble at all so far, and I originally raised him to this size (3 inches) in a tank with 3 cory catfish. All he is doing is swimming around the tank with some of the fish following him.

It seems harmless (at least untill I strengthen him back up) but I want to know how long it takes for a green terror to grow because he is taking so long.

I don't care if he eats a couple neons along the way, more power to him, I just donn't want the neons eating him. (he is seriously a huge pussy, I just looked over and the bolivian ram scared him away).

would it also be okay if I grew him out a bit more in 10 gallon by himself until he gets to at least 4 inches? I just figured the 29 would be better, but maybe I will just move the community fish to the 10 and leave him in the 29 to grow out.

any suggestions?

My little green terror is growing really slowly too. It must be something consistent with the whole species. Anyway, I think he'll be fine in the comm tank, but don't be surprised if he nips some serious fin along the way.

IME they are slow growers compared to most others. I'd put it in the 29 for a little while. I grew my JD to around 4"+ in my 29 and moved her out. Worked well with a good w/c schedule

Also feed high protein food to bulk your GT up. Think like a body builder... more protein = more body mass. Earthworms are my favorite to accomplish this. Make sure they are cut up small enough for the fish to easily handle them tho. I also avoid feeding feeders as I believe this will cause them to identify their smaller tankmates as food... maybe not.

Good luck

Any pics of the little guy?

don't worry he is not sick its just that green terrors are slower growers than what your probably use to

my dads GT was being an ARSE yesterday so he took it out of his main tank to give the others a break then it ate a Kribensis sooo..... now its in my tank with the jags and they was teaching him a lesson so now its divided... its totally down to the fish itself.

I had a 13" GT male that wouldn't touch other fish. I had it in with lemon tetras as dithers. I'll have to try and dig up some photos...

They are one of the slowest growing cichlids out there.

wow modest man thats a feat. Its my favorite fish, and I want to grow it out, but I wil leave him in the 29 untill he gets large and then move him to the 75 with a divider and grow him some more.

thanks though, I would love to see a pic of that green terror modest man
