Hey

I have a green terror at around 3" long. About a week ago he started getting really picky with his food and started to lose his appetite. Now he seems to be constantly passing long white stringy waste, and won't eat. Although he doesn't seem hungry, he will usually take whatever I have given to him, but spit it out either immediately or up to 30 seconds later. I have tried soaking pellets in epsom salt but of course, he won't swallow them. I bought a wormer from my LFS (they said this would work just as well for any internal parasites) but after 36 hours, I have noticed no change in condition. I gave him a 15 minute epsom salt bath tonight, but I don't have high hopes for any results. Although (with the exception of the stringy waste) he doesn't seem to look sick, I feel like he could be on borrowed time, as he hasn't ate for the best part of a week. Does anyone have any suggestions I could try?
Thanks
Steve

Get a children's syringe put the solution in it then net the fish once out of the water open its mouth or when it opens its mouth spray the solution down it throat. Make sure the syringe is brand new cause any old medicine residue can hurt the fish more.

Before this incident, what have you been feeding him? and you should also start changing out the water, just to keep the current tank he's in clean, until you figure out what the problem... You don't want the issue to get worst, before you even have the chance to fix it..

Dont worry about him not eating, cichlids can go weeks without eating...you should stop feeding during this treatment, hes not going to eat it anyways...I used metro when my festaes had it and it worked great but took 5 or 6 days for them to eat after not eatng for a week and a half before treatment...I tried other things but metro+ worked for me...good luck

You're better off not attempting to feed them during treatment. They usually don't eat anyway and it just fouls the water. Let the gut rest during treatment. Once you finish treating and there appatite returns feed lightly for the first couple of days.
