was thinking about getting a green terror I heard some people say they are semi agressive and others say they are extremely agressive , tell me your opinion, also would 55 gallon be an ok sized aquarium and will it destroy my senegal bichir? (the only other resident of the tank)

sorry for so many questions
thanks to all those that reply:)

i think a 55g would be good for quite a while if thats the only fish. i have one with about 13 other fish. he doesnt really mess with any others aside from the quick chasing here and there.

however, i have a carpintis and those guys just love to hate each other. i dont think he'll bother your bichir.

in my experience, most aggressive cichlids dont seem to bother what doenst look like a "normal" fish, like bichers, catfish, loaches, plecos, etc. and they usually ignore them.

hope this helps...

Some are very aggressive, and some are not so aggressive. Like many cichlids, it just comes down to the individual fish. A 55 is good for a GT for life. I think there is a good chance that one will get along fine with a Senegal.

:o I really want one now ,

tried to find some pics of mine to make you want one even more, but this is the best i could do!!! i love this guy

lol making me want one even more

does anyone know of any indicators that reflect the personality of cichlids like from watching them for a few mins in the petstore, like ways to distinguish the mean from the docile?

I have a GT in my 55 with a senegal and they get along fine, mine was chasing alot of the other GT's around in the petstore tank but when i got him home he didnt bother anyone

It's hard to tell the temperament of an individual fish based on observations in a pet store. As most everyone has said, it depends on the individual fish. You put a fish that's aggressive in a pet store with ten tankmates in your tank at home that's five times larger and has one third the tankmates, it may act totally different.

jcardona1, I have the exact same situation with my GT and Carpinte. That's wild.
