I don't see why not, but all the fish you have eat feeder fish. GT's need there pellets too....I gave him beef heart and fish as a treat...

Alright i have a temporary growout tank of 67g, and do you think that he could go in there with a 6" longnose gar, 5" Clown Knife, 4" Clown Knife and 4" channel catfish, not trouble yet with them yet, had this tank setup for about a month, thinking about throwing him in there hes about 4-5". i havnt gone and gotten him yet so give me some feedback and ill see if i can get this guy for cheaper cause i love the color, could i put some tank mates in a 67g tank?

he should be fine in that grow out. when the other fish ar moved to their pemanent home, a 67 would be perfect for him.

from my experience, they don't grow as fast as other SA cichlids. so he should be ok in a growout. i've always loved the GT's colors and attitude. some are quite calm and some a totally aggro. all the ones i've had over the years have been really picky about diet.

Alright sounds good ill pick him up then and ya he had some great color, and i think it will flourish in my tank with plenty hiding spots

the biggest GT ive ever seen in person was about 13", it isnt really normal occurrence to grow this large, but it happens so i figured i would warn you.

yep I agree with pc fried rich. He could stay in that 67 for life. What is it's footprint? Like 4' x 15" or something? Or bowfront? Either way, sounds like the perfect tank for one and they are awesome fish. They're extremely personable when they get a little bigger. I had a male for 8 years who maxed out a 10". He was almost comparable to an Oscar personalitywise.
