green terror???

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Every fish has a different personality. But generally Green Terrors can be pushy and aggressive. Maybe not as mean as a red devil but some can be.

green terrors are like the kittens of the aggressive cichlid world IMO. ive had two big GTs (about 7") get destroyed in a tank that had your average cichlids, nothing too crazy. and i mean demolished! both times it happened at night. in the morning they were floating and torn to shreds. ive given up on GTs

Never had ared devil but my gt was fine till 6" then he almost killed his firemouth buddy. He's peacful living with two balas now that she's out

What I dont understand, is why does a fish have to be aggressive? Whats the purpose? If the fish is attractive and intelligent this is what should count. The only time you need a fish to be tough is when its among other pushy and aggressive fish. And this should only be for them to defend themselves. Why do you want a fish to be a maniac? I dont know about you, but I dont liek having fish die and keep spending money on more. The best way is to have a balanced tank and have fish that work together.

Yes, but you have to use common sense sometimes. Some people will put a fish that is too aggressive with a community of less aggressive fish. You have to have balance. You have to know what works together. For a long time I have not had any fish fatalities. Theres been a few times where one fish got out of control and I removed that fish. I dont wait around for it to kill anything. I remove fish and try a different species until I get a mix that works. Right now my tank is perfect. The cichlids I have are a perfect match. Theres some occasional nipping, bumping, gill flaring etc, but nothing major. None of them want to kill eachother. They are very social and like to interact with eachother, there is not a big bully in there wreaking havoc on everyone.

My GT is the big boy of the tank, he pushes everyone around if they are in his way...but i did have a red devil with him once and had to take him out because he beat up my GT pretty bad....

yeah, i think thats why he's asking first :)

i have a red devil with my malawi that is going back to the shop on sunday but i have got a gt in with them im looking after it 4 a mate while he fixes his tank.
will the gt be ok with big malawi?????
