Yes, but you have to use common sense sometimes. Some people will put a fish that is too aggressive with a community of less aggressive fish. You have to have balance. You have to know what works together.

I agree 100%... which is why it's a good idea to ask about a fish's aggression level before purchasing it...

As mentioned, every fish's individual personality will differ...

That being said it's common for males to be tougher than females... and tougher fish are more likely to be more aggressive...

They are called Green 'Terror' for a reason... and it's not because they play nice with others... Although, as mentioned, they are not as tough/aggressive as fish from the Amphilophus or Parachromis familes tend to be... But excluding those two families, Green Terrors are one of your tougher SA/CA Cichlids...

you also have to remember that the green terror as we know them, aka saum, are not what gave the species its common name. the true green terror is apparently far more aggressive than the saums we know as green terrors.

what kind of malawi? most likely not....Two different fish that require to different water types and different environments
Malawi- rocky
Green Terror- wood, plants, amazon

so is it wise to have it in with the malawi or not

no. central/south american cichlids generally dont mix well with african great lake species. mainly due to water conditions being so different but also the language they "speak".

just so you dont post again with another new world to mix with your malawis, they really do speak another language and have trouble cohabiting the same tank. its better to have a malawi tank and/or a new world cichlid tank but not both in the same tank. you could try but i would bet it will end badly for one of the two.

i have a red devil with my malawi that is going back to the shop on sunday but i have got a gt in with them im looking after it 4 a mate while he fixes his tank.
will the gt be ok with big malawi?????
my female GT is doing fine with big africans..one thing is to make sure your GT gets enough to eat...those africans are quick as lightening when it comes to eating... and just keep an eye out... all fish mixing is different because all tanks are different..tankmates and all fish have different levels of aggression... what works for me may not work for you.. there could be one fish in there that upsets the balance... but in my opinion it won't be the GT that causes the problems if some should arise..

each fish is individual, i had an extremely mean terror who runned a whole 150G tank and then bought a midas who was extremly mean (as in top of the range dovii aggression) and he bashed out the terror in seconds.
