Green Terror

Heres a pick and vid of my male 10" GT. He is an awesome fish never shy and infact holds his own against my 12" jag. They cut my 8' 225G in half. Yes, GTs are prone to internal parasites but if you are careful what you feed (ie: no live feeders) you should be ok. I pretreat with Kent's Garlic Extreme and I never have issues (I did twice with this particular GT before I got wise). I bought this guy as a 1 inch fri with 5 others. and it took 2.5 years to get to 10". After about 6 months I picked the one I liked out of the bunch and took the other 5 back to the LFS or gave to friends.

This vid is a little old. I dont have the Oscar in there any more so the GT and Jag grew into the extra space.:D

i never feed them feeders or live food, always pellets and frozen shrimp, bloodworms, stuff like that

Oh, my bad, I'm not suggesting that if your GT gets a parasite its because you're feeding him live. I just mean to stay away from that as a known issue. You can still get internal parasites from other places. Thats why even though I feed the right stuff I still pretreat with the garlic.... just incase lol
Your issue with just sitting there might be because he is by himself? Maybe you need a few dithers in there.

I had 3 dollars in there but took them out and in a diffrent tank, 2 jumped out over the past while. I put the last dollar back in with him today so we will see what happens.

Your GT is awesome, why are they so prone to internal parasites compared to other fish??

Ive had my GT for about 7 months and hes grown from 1 inch to 6 inches in that time span.. Not a slow grower at all in my experience. I know that male GTs are alot more brighter than females. As for juvies its tough but i noticed if you look at a bunch of then at once you will find a few have nice green spangling in their caudal fin as you will find in adult males. Females "usually" dont have any coloration in the fins. some juvies males might be late bloomers and not have any spangling quite yet but I would say look for the spangling for a sure thing. Heres a pic of my guy.

I have had my Green Terror for about 7 months and have grown him since he was around 1.5 inches. When i went looking for a male the only thing i looked at was the coloration of the fins. This method succeeded for me.

For me my GT has been amazing, watching him grow to be now 4" is something that you dont want to miss out on. At start they will be very skiddish but will later grow to have the personality of that of an oscar. Mine will follow me around the room and wont let me out of his site (Maybe because he always wants food). As for food i have always fed using pellets and on the very odd occasion frozen blood worms. With this method I have not had parasites within any of my fish.
Green Terrors are a great fish as long as you do the right thing by them.

This is the forum that shows my GTs growth rate..
