Give him a variety of things. Also a high protein diet will improve his color and beef him up a little. As I said before he will grow but GT are slow growers. It takes them about 2 years to get 8" or so. As for food feed him some Hikari Bio-Gold along with the NLS, some small peices of krill and chopped up peices of earthworms. Feed him some peas as well to help cope with all the protein hes getting. Oh and if you want up your water changes to 2 a week.

:iagree: but i wouldn't do 50% twice a week... more like 30% and the idea of 50% everyday is just dumb!

Need a picture please

While I agree GT's are slow growers I would like to point out that they usually shoot up to 4 inches or so pretty quickly and then slow drastically. My 4 inch female grew from 1 inch to 4 inches in about 3 months but hasn't grown more than a 1/4 inch in the last 4 weeks or so. I would suggest feeding brine shrimp, krill, bloodworms and occasionally beefheart to up the protein intake and increase growth. I would also try to do 2 50% water changes a week.

Should the peas be peeled????

The peas dont have to be peeled. They will usually crush the pea in their mouth and take all the good stuff inside and spit the peel out. Even if the eat the peel thats alright too. It's just some fish dont like eating it.

Why is the idea of 50% a day dumb? Care to elaborate on that?

50% a day??????? Doesn't that seem absurd? If not...guess I better get rid of this fish.

Well its not absurd its just most people don't do it which isn't bad at all. A weekly regiment is completely ok as long as your water parameters are good like nitrates lower than 15ppm or so. Personally I keep my nitrates around 10ppm or lower if I get around to the 3rd WC. I usually do 2-30% water changes a week some times 2-50%. The whole 50% a day is that the fish grows quickly. You can keep your fish your doing a good job with your WC.:) Although a 50% a day could have the potential to throw your tank into a mini-cycle which can be straightened out fairly quick. Oh and your Avatar is absolutely HILARIOUS! I cracked up when I saw it. lol

HEEHEE...that's the original LOLcat. Google it. You know...I've been keeping an eye on him lately...seems to be fine other than he is small. His colors are awesome though...the red on his fins really show through. Guess I'll just be patient.
