Green terrors & fry VIDEO

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Everythings looking good!!
Where are the tank mates? BHT's and SD's?

I love the look of the leaves so they are a must in my tank. They do create another dimension. Are they actually that red or is it the camera?

The pair look great and Hammer is really filling out. They have a lot of fry and seem to be doing a good job protecting it!

I look forward to seeing whats in store next...
Thanks Grant! The BHT's are in there, the darkness is just hiding them and I didn't really focus on them during the video. I think there are only 2 left now, not sure yet since I haven't see a body, so it's possible that it got eaten. I feel bad but I can't find anyone that has them in the area. The SD's are in "quarantine" right now, more like heaven actually, since they got injured. Here's a link: http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?483402-Please-help-and-advice. They're perfectly fine now so I'll reintroduce them once the fry are out of the tank.

The leaves are definitely appealing to the eye! They are more brown(with a touch of orange) than red, what makes it look red are the lighting gels(I'm sure you see them on my splashguard) and definitely the tannins from the alder cones also. The leaf on the top, all the way to the left, would be the most accurate coloration.

I appreciate the compliments and I'm definitely proud of my pair.

Is there anything specific that you want for my next video? :)

looking good male has some intense color. He looks a bit short body?
Thank you! It's funny you mentioned him being short bodied. Remember this?
:D
Could you get better pics of the gt's.. Im not sure but the one with nice colors looks like a short body? It could just be the angle..
It's definitely turning out to be that way, he's not a midget but definitely shorter than most I guess. It's my first batch of GT so I can't really say for sure.

Okay, I did get that the focus was the GTs, Hammer kept reminding me! My problem is nit sourcing them, its sourcing larger sizes. As I'm worried they may meet the FRNTs in heaven!

What effect on the plants did the SDs have? Im glad they're sorted now, it surprises me how hardy fish are, because that looked pretty bad!? Do you plan on removing fry soon? To allow the pigs back in?

I am not doing anything with my tank atm. Because unfortunately I have ich (whitespot), I saw one of the GTs brought it, but I wasn't sure if it was for certain. But now everyone is covered! So I am holding off changing anything for the time being! But that doesn't mean I cant order or buy anything, right!?:p

In the next video I would like a tour of the tank, inc. setup, filtration and lights. Then a good view of each individual fish :D That's a task for you :)

I'm not sure what you're trying to say here. Are you referring to finding good sized BHTs?

You want it, you got it! I'll have some fun walking you through my set up :D just give me some time.

The SDs haven't been touching the plants on their "quarantine" tank, maybe because they're mostly set on pellets. The setup is actually the first biotope that I did and it's basically Asian with a focus on India. I wasn't exactly as strict on it but I have pearl gouramis, roseline sharks, false? siamese algae eaters, and some ghost shrimps. I used to have some badis badis on there as well. Anyway, the SDs are staying in that tank for a month more or two so I can let the fry grow substantially before I move them to a grow-out tank and/or donate. The SDs' injuries looked pretty bad and I'm glad they made a quick recovery.

Speaking of fish health, I hope your fish get back in shape fast! Now that you have your TGTs, it's a bit of pressure on you but I'm sure you'll easily patch things up. What are you planning on buying? Hahaha

Yes, finding larger sized BHTs is proving fairly difficult!

I have all the time in the world! Whilst you are at it, id like a video of the second biotope too! :D

Im glad to hear they healed up fast! Mine seem to be clearing of ich. So hopefully we will both have healthy SDs :D. I am very envious that yours didn't eat plants! I would love for then not to eat plants.

I'm keeping it a surprise. But I go on holiday for a week next monday so i'm not sure whether it will be after or before that!? However, I am certainly aimingfor next TOTM... ;)

Could you be getting a new piece of driftwood? I know you picked up what you have now locally, but who knows. I think adding in some oak leaves, alder cones, and a thick dw with plants are part of your current plans, but I'm sure you have something else up your sleeve! Maybe some new lighting? :D

Yup yup, I'm happy they're doing fine too. Not having a school of them is starting to bother me though... If only they weren't such fat pigs, hahaha. I'm not sure why they're not eating the plants, it might be because the plants are not native to their area and isn't to their "taste"(shocking) or they're just really used to pellets.

I'm a bit concerned about Hammer right now, his appetite is down and only goes for Omega One shrimp pellets and Cichlid Bio Gold+ pellets, rejecting any NLS(4.5mm Jumbo Fish Formula and 3mm Thera +A). What's your take on this? Do you think quarantine for treatment is necessary?

Nice. very nice looking pair
I really appreciate it!

A video of how my tank works.
I suggest you watch it on youtube itself so you can read the captions.

I probably left some things out so feel free to ask anything I may have missed!

My pair had just given off their first batch of fry last friday. And now have free swimmers. Congrats! I hope my pair looks close to as great as yours does.

Thank you so much and congratulations on the fry! I hope you raise a good number of them :D Constant feeding and clean water is really important.

I'll keep an eye out for your updates!
