Would love for all you texas owner to share some pics of your and any extra info about your experience with them woulg be great. I hear they can be a little bit nasty?

let the pic roll in

thanks

The Escondido variety of green texas (H. carpintis var. Escondido) is referred to as a 'super green texas' by the way, because they're usually more deeply colored than the normal green texas. H. carpintis var. Ventihillo is similar.

Here's my escondido:

I keep her with guppies and bristlenoses. But that's because she's 'special'.

They're hardy, don't really care about what sort of water you have, as long as you have filtration and the likes. Not a sand-sifter, they prefer stuff that kinds of swims in the middle layer of the tank or slowly drift down from the surface. From my experience with 'em anyways.

Yeah, that pic was taken a while back, she's a tad bigger now, and nicer colors. I may try to take another pic of her when I get home.

Females generally are more elongated, and can have a black blotch on their dorsal fin (it's very apparent when they're in breeding dresses). You can't see it in that pic, but the last time she put her breeding dress on it was extremely clear.

Males are generally less elongated, and can develope a slight hump (more like a steeper forehead).

Surefire way though is by venting them. :)

Having trouble uploading ,my larger one is profile pic :)
