Good luck bro. We need some fortune fish in the hobby. They are beautiful.

Thanks guys, apparently you wishing me luck had some effect, I can't believe we got so many fish to pair up tonight! As things stand now, I have a male pink fen paired to a female jack dempsey, a very high white creamsicle midevil paired to a female parrot, and a male jag to a female jack dempsey at my brothers house. Fingers crossed, the pair bonds stay strong!

Also have two more possible pairs, very high white male midevil to pink fen female, and pink fen male to synspila female....just checked and it's looking very good with the midas x pink fen pair...not sure I can, but I really should try to get some sleep, lol!

Spoke too soon, the midas X parrot pair fizzled, the midas is a little small to be certain of sex, it could be that it's female & that's the problem. The pink fen X jack pair is going strong, very strong pair bond between them, looking very good indeed. The possible pairs I mentioned in the last post don't seem to be taking off yet, fingers crossed at least one of them will work out.

that fene and jack pair will be the 1st i ever heard of should be cool looking

The jack proved to be too aggressive, or just didn't like the mates I provided. At the moment I am attempting to pair the high white midas to synspila, it looks very promising. Also in the intro stage with my pink fene male X parrot pair, they too seem very promising. I still have a beautiful pink fene female on reserve, I very much want to pair her to carpintis. The carpintis x synspila pair have not spawned yet, but they're still very bonded and are almost constantly engaging in some form of pre breeding behavior, digging pits, staying very close to one another, flaring/displaying. I love the dark background color on the Rio Hondo carpintis, makes their pearls really pop.

The pink fene came from Cichlids Of The Americas, it's paired to a bp at the moment, they seem to want to spawn but I'm still debating on letting them.
The carpintis x synspila also came from Dan at C.O.T.A., they're my most bonded pair, shouldn't be long for a spawn from them too. Pretty sure I want to concentrate on the carpintis X syn spawn first, thats the strain I want to work with the most. Going for kok as much as possible, but really don't expect good results for a few generations. Aiming for a strain that's 62.5% carpintis, 37.5 syn.
As for the pink fene X parrot, I'm not sure where I want to take that yet, I may not go for sb so much, we'll see.

I wish I had something to report on this project that was worthy of pic's & a new thread, but although they are still clearly a bonded pair, they have'n't done anything but clean around their rock and flirt...for weeks now! It's making me crazy! Lol!

The male looks mighty small tho. You can try a mirror to get the testosterone going.
Good luck!
