Green Texas.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Mine hides amongst the plants a lot like was said earlier. Pretty docile and gets along with my pike cichlids really well. Eats anything I put in the tank. Sorry to hear you lost one :/

12 inches would be considered enormous in any varient on the market at the present time, 10 inches is considered large, and 8 inches is the average. Exactly where did you see these green texas that are much larger than 10 inches, and how much larger than 10 inches are they? Pics?

I saw a MP red texas just all perfect at 12" at A+ tropical. ether that or bigger. It was tall too not just 12" long. It was huge.

Then I saw a Red texas kamfa-like with nice ball head at Tong's lfs near whittier blvd.. It is huge. even bigger than the A+ 12" one. Thicker for sure. This one maybe still there and I urge anyone in socal to go there and witness it. Near whittier blvd. So nice

Both were faded, huge, and NICE. They were $400.

Guessing this would approach a type of "wet pet" personality? Will they thrive if kept alone like a oscar/red devil/midas/green terror?
Yes it will be do just fine by itself. Carpintis (pearl scale cichlid not really a texas) is not near as aggressive as a true texas ciclid (cyanoguttatus) unless you have breeding pair. Their on the same level as an Oscar from my experience so you could have tankmates if you have a tank over 4ft or some SD’s, etc if you have a 75-90g. My 2.5c

All the true texas cichlids (cyanoguttatus) that I’ve seen have been some nasty tempered fish & I wouldn’t advise keeping those with anything unless you have a big tank.
