Green Tree Python eye pupil question

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Eyes with "vertical line" pupils as opposed to circular, indicate a nocturnal lifestyle.

In response to your original post's pictures, the first shot is taken during the day in bright light while the snake is sleeping, the second was probably taken at night using a flash, when the pupils will be more dilated to take in more light :)

Thanks for your input everybody, it looks like it was a common sense question that i somehow managed to lack :D

So the neonate's eye colour changes as they mature as well?

Hmmm.. I think I might shop around a bit more before I have to make a decision. There's a severe lack of local breeders here!
I'm also not sure about getting them shipped..

The snake in the second pic is WIIIDE awake, as opposed to the first one.

As to your second question, there are guys ( experienced guys ) that can tell by the colour of the eye if the GTP was a yellow or a red neonate.

What is your level of experience with snakes, I Pee?

Hmm interesting.

So far I've only kept a kenyan sand boa and a ball python. Both very much beginner snakes..

It will be challenging for sure, but I love a challenge and the idea of caring for and taming.. such a snake.
Even if I don't end up taming it I will for sure admire it from a far

I love them. Have 18 in my snake room.

I say go get it! Please read Grg Maxwell's the Complete Chondro. It will give you a lot of theoretical knowledge.

Oh I've seen your GTP's, very nice collection that you have.

As for the more complete chondro, I thought about putting it on my Christmas list (that I was forced to make..) but figured it was too expensive. My sense of entitlement has definitely diminished over these years, haha
I will definitely have to order it soon.
