green water any magic cures

I got green water really bad in my 450 Litre. I bought a uv filter (rated for 300L tanks) and used algea fix but still took a while to go away. Then when the tank was just recovering we had to get a powerpole replaced. They told us when we were rushing out the door an hour before they turned it off. The power was out for 6 hours and the tank is still a bit cloudy 2 weeks later.

I run a UV unit on my main tank 24/7. Zero impact to the cycle from day one - I tested daily when I first started to use it.
Since the first day I turned it on - no more algae and not one disease/baterica/etc. in the tank. I also run 2 filters and 2 heaters on the same tank. I figure that the prevention is much cheaper than the heartache and $$$ trying cures.

I strongly recommend a UV unit for anyone with an algae problem. It will help keep your whole tank healthier.
