I have a 29 gallon tank with 4 baby rbp's. The tank has been running for 5 days already. I have added Nutrafin Cycle since day 1. Day 2 a bacterial bloom has appeared in my tank and disappeared day 3. Day 4 til today day 5 I still have green water. I performed a 50% water change yesterday as I read it somewhere just do 50% water changes for this problem that is hard to get rid of. It is really not that green, its like green tea and I can still see the fish and everything. Anybody know how to get rid of it?

Is it more like suspended euglena/algae or more like medication stain?

Medication Stain I guess. Also on day 4 before the water started green, I added this product called Nitraban by TETRA which says that its supposed to fix PH NITRATE etc. Its green color, do you think it might have messed up my tank cycle or something. I don't know.

I dont really turn the light on. Not even pass 1 hour. But I have strong light from my saltwater tank. Not metal halide though. So yea i have never turned them on passed one hour. Direct sunlight? umm I would say my tank is 15 feet away from the window but I have curtains that block sunlight and it just gives the room regular brightness. But no sunlight going directly to my tank.

Then feel free to continue the discuession of your particular situation here...

During the cycling process your water will have pollutant levels that your water will not have after cycling... So I really wouldn't worry about it too much right now...

Doing a water change is not always a way to get rid of green water. If your tap water contains phosphates (which is common) then doing a water change may raise your tank water's phosphate levels thus feeding your algae issue...

So I believe in a week I should give them Bottled or Mineral water bought at the market which contains low PH right? Would this be a good idea?

lol nutrafin cycle, i used that stuff on my first cycle and man it SUCKS!!!! that stuff does not work. it says to keep treating it weekley or monthly just so you spend your money. in reality if your tank is cycled then you dont have to keep adding chemicals to keep your tank cycled. later on i learned about safe start and the stuff is the real deal. its way more pricey than nutrifin and you can add fish right away, but you will get a nitrite spike. i also dont mess with the ph at all or add any other chemicals. IMO all of the so called medications and water adjusters are scams and will mess up your tank or cycle.

So I shouldnt buy AlgaeFix to remove this green water problem and just wait?

sorry but i dont have the answer to your problem. im just saying next time if your tank is running great and looks great dont add any chemicals because it can mess it all up. just like it has for you with green water.
