is that ok for fish to or no?lol

sorry, the plants have been gone for a while "older pic".they clogged the pumps is why.
so it cant be that. got fake plants in there now. :D

Yes four days of darkness is ok. The fake plants are still serving the same purpose as the realy plants and they provide shelter. It looks like your pond is nicely sheltered from the sun and the barrels have no lip or anything for shelter from the sun. Try the darkness then add some fake plants if you do not like real plants. Just add some cover! That pond looks like it has a nice big lip all the way around and high sides to keep it sheltered also.

do some water changes, the nitrates are prolly off the charts

midnight there are several things...but rather than compete with your buddy radley, I'll let him handle it.

You can get some fish safe algaecide at walmart. Just know that dying algae consumes the oxygen in the water. First do a major water change to get rid of most of the algae. Then add the algaecide. Watch the fish for any signs of stress or gasping. Also, keep an air stone going during the algae treatment. To get the algaecide really cheap, go to the fish department and find a bottle of the algaecide. Now carry the bottle to the pool section. Compare the ingredients until you find the pool algaecide that is the same stuff that is in the fish safe bottle. The fish safe bottle sells for $7 and will treat like twenty gallons. The pool algaecide is $13 and will treat like 20,000 gallons. It worked really well for me, only I didn't have anyone to tell me to keep the pond aerated. Three days after I did the treatment, every fish was dead. Only my bull frogs survived.
