Have you added new gravel, it might be the dies coming off, try using new carbon to get it out. Or it's algae, limit the amount of time the lights are on.

Probably not. Unless you change something about the tank setup the algae will just come back.

I have 2 tanks that are close to windows and often have algae blooms happening in them. The best cure is to cut down the amount of light. Either run the tank lights for less time or shade the tank from the natural light.

If the tank is planted then the bigger plants will reduce the nutrients in the water and so control the algae that way. But if there are no live plants you have to control the light better and keep up the water changes to keep the nutrients down.

well i did 90% water change and it worked great. got rid of about 99% of the greenish colored water would these hrs help 7am-7pm or should i have less or more right now it is at 7am-10pm or 7am-11pm.

too much light would stick to around 8 hours or so a day

ok

Do you have any natural driftwood? If so could be the tannins leaching from the wood. To get rid of the yellowish green tints keep doing water changes about 50% per week or more. Should deterate with water changes.

Hope this helps
